Director Rajeev Kumar has announced the creation of his new Punjabi film, which will be released this Diwali. The film is billed as the first thoroughly feminist Punjabi movie, and it follows four women as they confront difficult issues. Because her spouse is incarcerated, a woman must drive a truck to make a living, a television reporter, a college student, and a foreign scholar who studies polluted water in Punjab are among the characters.
The movie story line is based on several sensitive issues of female oppression and exploitation in Punjab, a state that is economically powerful. It addresses problems faced by women in rural and urban Punjab as well as in other parts of India. This is the first time Rajeev Kumar has made a movie exclusively concerned with women. Illegal immigration, the situation of Dalit Sikh slaves, bonded labour, and many other issues have previously been depicted in his films, but this is the first time he has focused on women’s issues,’’ Kumar says. The shooting will commence by the end of the month. Artists are still being selected for the movie, which will be produced by Hardeep Singh, a first-time UK producer. The film’s background music will be composed by Ravi Sheen.
Hardeep Singh has announced his intent to make films as part of his new initiative in support of his home state of Punjab. He claims that this is the best way to contribute to the film industry. It is also a subject dear to his heart. No film has ever addressed this issue, and this is why I hope to assist in bringing it to life on the big screen. It will be released in Winter 2022.
