Chandigarh, December 15, 2022: Today, the Tagore Theatre hosted an exclusive performance by French piano maestro Shani Diluka. She is considered to be one of the most talented pianists of her time.
The French Embassy in India, Institut Français, Alliance Française de Chandigarh, the Chandigarh Cultural Department, and Furtados collectively presented a concert, for which admission was open to the public and completely free of charge.
She was born in Monaco to Sri Lankan parents and was identified as having exceptional talent at the age of six, due to a program set up by Princess Grace of Monaco. She is the only pianist from India to be accepted into the Paris Conservatory where she won first prize .
Interpreter Shani Diluka demonstrates her ability to bridge the divide between East and West, between her piano playing and poetry writing – which resulted in her book being listed in the prize list of Academie Française. She has been highly praised by critics, such as Suddeutsche Zeitung who described her as “mastering the craft of music”.
Shani Diluka expressed to the press present that it felt like second nature to him to select the piano, and that he himself made the decision.
As she travels regularly, she only spends 10 days at home each month and makes jokes about her luggage being constantly unpacked because she’s rarely in one place for an extended period. Her and her husband, world-renowned violinist Gabriel Le Magadure, had to decide to not have children so their careers could blossom.
