HMV Collegiate School Celebrated World Environment Day

Being the stalwart in maintaining greenery, HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School celebrated World Environment Day with ecstatic spirits on the theme ‘Eco System Restoration’ under the dynamic guidance of the Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The online Inter-School competitions in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology were conducted in order to sensitize the students about environment conservation and sustainability in which around 450 students from different schools of Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Taran Taran and Jamshedpur participated vigorously and showcased their artistic outlook by following the tagline of the events – Reimagine, Recreate and Restore. In the competition Trash to Treasure, Manayata of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar secured the first position, Sudipa of HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School and Jayanti Bansal of DAV Public School, Pakhowal, Ludhiana secured the second and the third positions respectively. In Slogan Writing competition, the first position was bagged by Samridhi Garg of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana, Harsimar Singh Chaggar of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road secured the second position and the third position was won by Kritika of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar. In One Minute Video Message competition, Arsheen Kaur of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar attained the first position, Tanvi of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana secured the second position and the third position was attained by Pragati of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar and Adeeti of HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School.In Poster Making competition, Shrishti Nautiyal of B.S.F. Sr. Sec. School bagged the first position, Ayush Kumar Jha of DAV Public School Bistupur, Jamshedpur won the second position, Manjot of Swami Sant Dass Public School , Jalandhar attained the third position. The consolation was awarded to Mehak Chopra of HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School and Musahida of Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School , Nehru Garden, Jalandhar.The meticulous work of judgement was done by the worthy judges Mrs. Rama Sharma, Head of Mass Communication Department, Mrs. Gurdeep, Asst. Prof. In Fine Arts, Mrs. Divya Chadha, Lecturer in Home Science, Mrs. Anuradha Thakur, Lecturer in Hindi. Ms. Richa, Lecturer in Commerce and Ms. Pahul, Lecturer in Biology duly discharged their roles as incharge of the events. In the campus of HMV everyday is rejuvenated as environment day which is evident with the dancing trees swaying happily in the flowing breeze and adding more in them always brings peace to the heart there. With this regard, the Principal Dr. Ajay Sarren and the school coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal planted different medicinal and ornamental plants in the campus to mark the special significance of Environment Day. The Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen conveyed congratulations to all the position holders as well as participants and added that we must preserve our environment and be grateful to it. The school coordinator Mrs Meenakshi Sayal said that these kinds of competitions make the students to realise the immense potential the human mind can have to change the trash into treasure. The students become vigilant about the fact that the earth doesn’t give us anything in waste then why we are returning the mother earth in waste. This reflective attitude is the key element to make the students grow and develop holistically.
