-In the latest episodes of Sony Entertainment Television’s captivating drama, ‘Jubilee Talkies – Shohrat.Shiddat.Mohabbat’, the rivalry between Shivangi (Khushi Dubey) and Ira (Krissann Barretto) heats up, upping the entertainment quotient in the show. Despite Ira’s best efforts, Ayaan Grover aka AG AG (Abhishek Bajaj), stays loyal to Shivangi, increasing Ira’s resentment. The tipping point is when Goldie Mama (Rajiv Kumar) announces Ira as the new heroine alongside AG during the film’s launch event, causing more drama to unfold! In a candid conversation, actor Krissann Barretto, who plays Ira in the show, opens up about this new chapter of ‘Jubilee Talkies – Shohrat.Shiddat.Mohabbat.
1. As an antagonist in the show, how did you prepare for your character?
I have been watching ‘Jubilee Talkies’ very diligently to understand what I could do to deepen Ira’s character graph, especially now that the storyline has intensified. My primary focus has been on absorbing the smaller details of Ira’s character; as a woman who is in love with AG, Ira is manipulative yet charismatic, she has a side that he is unaware of, and as an actor, bringing alive these layers really excites me. What was also important was to understand how I could highlight her motives and emotions, making them more layered to align with the show’s dramatic tone while keeping her actions believable and engaging.
2. How do you balance making Ira both relatable and cunning?
Despite being a cunning character, I focus on portraying Ira’s genuineness. She has a perspective about the world, leading her to do what she does, and I make sure to encapsulate those emotions thoroughly. The writers have crafted her scenes so beautifully that it becomes easier for me to do justice to Ira’s complexity. She is so much more than just a villain—she’s a conflicted person with a story.
3. In the show, you are determined to get Shivangi out of AG’s life, in real life, how is your equation with Khushi Dubey and Abhishek Bajaj?
I adore Khushi! She’s the cutest, and we laugh so much on set. Scenes with her are a joy. The three of us, including Abhishek, always have the best energy together. Abhishek is also awesome to work with; I genuinely love working with both.
4. What can the viewers expect in the upcoming track?
Jubilee Talkies is set against the backdrop of the film world and a dialogue comes to mind for the upcoming track: “Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost”. The episodes are packed with twists and turns you won’t see coming. Ira is resilient and far from backing down; she’s set to return with heightened drama and surprises that will keep everyone on edge. An intense expose, drama, emotion and lots of action will be doled out in the episodes to come so stay tuned to Jubilee Talkies: Shohrat. Shiddat. Mohabbat, every Monday to Friday at 8:00 PM, only on Sony Entertainment Television.
