-Mohali 16 Nov: Smt. Nilambari Vijay Jagdale, IPS, DIG Ropar Range, informed the media about a murder case that occurred on November 13, 2024, in the jurisdiction of Phase-08 Police Station, Mohali. Following the directives of Shri Gaurav Yadav, IPS, DGP Punjab, the Mohali Police successfully traced and arrested four accused involved in the murder.
Smt. Nilambari Vijay Jagdale explained that on November 13, 2024, Balwinder Singh, son of Pala Ram, a resident of Kumbra village, Sector-68, Mohali, reported that unknown assailants had attacked his son Daman and Daman’s friend Dilpreet with knives near a well in Kumbra. Daman succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A case (FIR No. 94 dated 13-11-2024) was registered under sections 103(2), 109(1), 126(2), 190, and 191(2) of the Indian Penal Code at Phase-08 Police Station, Mohali.
The incident occurred around 6:45 PM when Daman was at his vegetable shop near his house. He was informed by neighbors that Akash and his friends had attacked his son Daman and Dilpreet with knives and fled the scene. Both victims were rushed to Park Hospital, Sector-69, Mohali, where Daman was declared dead.
Police Action:
Under the supervision of Deepak Pareek, IPS, SSP Mohali, various police teams were formed, including officers like Jyoti Yadav, IPS (Investigation); Harvir Singh Atwal, PPS (Urban); Talwinder Singh, PPS (Investigation); Harisamran Singh Ball, PPS (City-2); and Bikram Singh Brar, PPS (Sub-Division Derabassi). These teams worked collectively using technical and human intelligence to trace the accused to CRPF Camp, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi, where they were apprehended.

- Akash Kumar (22 years)
- Resident of Sandila, Hardoi, UP; currently residing near the Post Office, Kumbra.
- 12th-grade pass; unmarried.
- No prior criminal record.
