The Chandigarh Administration is currently examining the establishment of a pension plan for journalists working in the city. A team has been set up to study the proposal. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Banwari Lal Purohit, met with a delegation from the Chandigarh-Punjab Union of Journalists (CPUJ) today. He guaranteed that he would study the group’s petition.
Besides providing journalists with bus passes, the administrator informed the delegation that medical facilities would also be available. He assured the administration was already aware of the issues surrounding journalist welfare. CPUJ General Secretary Naveen Sharma, Convenor Ranju Aery, and Secretary Joginder Singh were among the delegation members.
