Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has changed the face of politics in Chandigarh during the last five years. Now elections are being contested in the name of development done by BJP, he said.
Khattar was addressing an election rally in Sector-39 in support of party candidate Ravinder Rawat from ward number 27 on Sunday. Earlier, Khattar addressed public meetings in support of party candidates Savita Gupta from ward number 4; Nitika Gupta, party candidate from ward number 5; Sarabjit Kaur, BJP candidate from ward number 6, at Rana Haveli in Manimajra and in support of party candidate Usha from ward number 16 Sector in Sector 25.
Manohar Lal Khattar said that there was a time when Chandigarh and its Corporation were remembered only for scams, but ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party government has come to the Center and Chandigarh, only development is being talked about here. He said that the government with‘double engine’ has given impetus to the development in Chandigarh. To maintain this momentum, the people of Chandigarh are ready to elect BJP once again.
Khattar said that this election will work as a testimony on the development works done during the tenure of BJP. As soon as the elections were announced, there was panic among the opponents, he said, adding, many independents have joined the BJP, and by the time the elections come closer, candidates of many political parties will also withdraw from the their candidatures in support of the BJP.

He said that BJP fights elections, with the same seriousness as it prepares development plans and implements them on the ground. Referring to the Centre’s Ujjwala scheme, Ayushman Bharat scheme and many other schemes, Khattar said that the residents of Chandigarh have benefited from all the schemes of the Centre. Among other senior leaders present included former BJP state president Sanjay Tandon, party leaders Prem Kaushik, Swaran Kumar, Varinder Tamta, and Azad Kumar Pankaj.
