Shashi Kapoor,the youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor,slowly & steadily raced to success with ” Jab Jab Phool Khile” in 1960s opposite Nanda.The film was a big success and fashioned his stardom in the days that followed.He rose to starry heights when cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan starting with Yash Chopra’s “Deewar” in 1975.Shashi Kapoor’s prominent films with mega star Amitabh Bachchan includes the likes of “Roti Kapda Aur Makaan” ( 1974),”Kabhie Kabhie”( 1976),”Trishul” ( 1978),”Silsila” & “Sharmilee” ( 1981) & Namak Halal” to mention some.An ardent theatre lover,and married to jennifer,Shashi Kapoor outclassed Bachchan when he said” Mere Pass Maa Hai” in “Deewar”.Also worked in many Hollywood films.
I met the actor twice, once spending two days with him. I also went to meet him at R.K.Studios.The actor achieved phenomenal prominence towards the middle part of his career in films.Born this day in Calcutta & bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award besides many others.”
